Ron Mildren prioritises Riverside Estate residents’ calls for community infrastructure
Thursday 11 September 2025
Ron Mildren today announced that if he is elected to Wodonga Council at the upcoming by-election, he will advocate for community infrastructure to be built in Killara’s Riverside Estate.
Riverside Estate now boasts over 500 homes, with plans for nearly 2,000 houses in Killara as development growth continues. Despite this growth, community infrastructure has not kept pace.
“When I’m listening to the Riverside community, I consistently hear that investment in community infrastructure must be a priority” Mr Mildren said.
“Building Riverside’s second entrance, building community infrastructure like public toilets, a community BBQ, a dedicated Off-leash Dog Park, and fencing Cuthbert Street Park Playground are all consistent themes”.
“Over a year ago, when I was Mayor, I got the VicRoads approval for Riverside’s second entrance. Under this new Council not even a shovel has hit the dirt. Why hasn’t it been built?”
“To unlock a retail precinct, and for safety and traffic reasons, this project needs to be prioritised.”
“The Riverside community also deserve the quality community infrastructure that other parts of Wodonga enjoy.” Mr Mildren said.
“We need to build a community BBQ, public toilets, and a dedicated Off-leash Dog Park in Riverside to service an active and outdoor loving community”.
“We also need to prioritise community safety. When the second road entrance is built, Cuthbert Street will become an arterial road.
“This means we need to construct a fence at Cuthbert Street Park Playground to prevent children from running onto what will become a main street. I will ensure a fence is constructed.
“I am the only candidate this election with a vision to build the community infrastructure residents and ratepayers need and deserve”, Mr Mildren said.
“My priorities reflect those of the Lake Hume Ward community, and I have the skills to deliver the results our community need right now”.
“When you vote 1 Ron Mildren in this election, you will get a councillor who is focused on delivering lower rates and better community infrastructure.
“You’ll get an experienced leader and an independent voice, with the skills, common sense, and strength to get results even when the odds are against us.”
