Ron Mildren prioritises upgrade of ANZAC Parade - Murray Valley Highway - Kiewa Valley Highway intersection & calls for full time road maintenance crew

Monday 15 September 2025

Ron Mildren today announced that if he is elected to Wodonga Council at the upcoming by-election, he will advocate for the upgrade of the ANZAC Parade - Murray Valley Highway - Kiewa Valley Highway intersection.

“As I listen to the Wodonga community, this is one of the most frequently raised issues” Mr Mildren said.

“At peak times traffic banks up along ANZAC Parade as cars try and turn onto the Kiewa Valley Highway. What’s worse, cars will often try and zip through a gap in traffic, which I’ve been told can lead to near-misses”.

“This intersection services more than just Wodonga. This is now the main arterial for vehicles traveling to our growth corridors, be it to Killara and Riverside Estate, or all the way to Baranduda, and out to Kiewa – Tangambalanga”.

“This intersection will also become busier with the $600 million defence investment building more infrastructure around these main roads”.

Mr Mildren also announced that if elected, he will seek to bring a full-time road maintenance crew back to Wodonga Council to maintain local roads.

“Full-time road maintenance crews used to be a standard part of service delivery for local councils”.

“Unfortunately, over the years, these services have been cut or reduced”.

“Now, with the poor condition of our roads, its time we bring this service back”.

“We need ongoing maintenance of our local roads to stop damage to cars and prevent dangerous road incidents, and to save money on major road upgrades in the long-run. Smaller and ongoing maintenance can prevent larger problems later on”.

“I am the only candidate this election with a vision to build the community infrastructure residents and ratepayers need and deserve”, Mr Mildren said.

“My priorities reflect those of the Lake Hume Ward community, and I have the skills to deliver the results our community need right now”.

“When you vote 1 Ron Mildren in this election, you will get a councillor who is focused on delivering lower rates and better community infrastructure.

“You’ll get an experienced leader and an independent voice, with the skills, common sense, and strength to get results even when the odds are against us.”
